Stories of Hope

It All Started When God Spoke to One Woman

It All Started When God Spoke to One Woman

God spoke to one woman, Marli Spieker, revealing the dark realities that many women are facing alone and hidden. What began as a prayer group grew into a global prayer mission and radio ministry to bring the hope of Jesus to women around the world and across generations.

Today, TWR Women of Hope has over 100,000 prayer partners, and reaches over 125 countries and broadcasts in over 75 countries bringing spiritual hope, emotional healing, and encouragement to women globally. The focus lies on educating, encouraging and equipping women to learn, pray, listen, grow and give through media and small groups.

OUR PARTNERSHIP

At TWR Canada, we believe in the same vision to see lives transformed by the gospel through media. By partnering with Women of Hope, we see this transformation happening across multiple countries. From broadcasting Women of Hope radio programs throughout Africa in numerous languages, to bringing hope to North Caucasus of Europe and providing healing in Paraguay, we continue to see lives changed by the message of Christ.

In Mali, “Mama Jeanne” Dembele, has been leading the charge for years since first hearing the Women of Hope program in French from Côte d’Ivoire. Knowing the women of her country desperately needed this program to encourage and equip them in their faith, she worked diligently to translate content into Bambara. Hundreds of women are now frequently listening to and engaging with gospel content in their heart language.

Female audiences in Botswana are listening to programs that speak directly to the high rates of trauma they face due to socio-economic factors, gender-based violence and cultural stigma surrounding mental health issues. Programs airing in both Setswana and English, focus on signs and symptoms of trauma and the path of forgiveness. The ministry is creating safe spaces for women to share experiences and support one another.

In Eswatini, TWR Women of Hope is producing a 5-minute program called "Hope to…" that addresses topics like hurt, disappointment, hopelessness, anger and mental health challenges. A key outreach activity involves distributing prayer calendars within local churches to promote the mission and work of TWR Women of Hope.

In the North Caucasus of Europe, Women of Hope is aimed to reach the many isolated women from Muslim backgrounds, broadcasting weekly programs and using social media to strategically distribute biblical content and engage with women online. Prayer groups are created to build on-the-ground relationships and encourage women to pray for one another.

Paraguay is known as a Christian country, but there is no real understanding that Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Violence against women is a stark reality, and women have no hope or direction in life. For the past 20 years, TWR Women of Hope has shared the hope of Christ through programs in Guarani and Spanish, and worked with women in prisons, teaching them practical life skills and sharing the love of Christ.

HIDDEN TREASURES

There is growing awareness that human trafficking and the sexual exploitation of women are worldwide problems that have a devastating impact on women, their families and their communities.

To combat these harmful realities, TWR Women of Hope created Hidden Treasures—a program that uses the power of media to bring inner healing and freedom to its target audience of sexually exploited and trafficked women. Most have developed damaging self-protection mechanisms such as lack of boundaries, self-inflicted hurt and violence toward others.

The first season, available online in 11 languages, features audio dramas inspired by real events crafted with professional advice which present women with the life-changing message of God’s great love and purpose for them. Season 2 shifts perspective, featuring women who have found hope in Christ. They reflect on their past, briefly share their testimonies, and point to the new life they now embrace.

Audio drama doesn’t just inform—it connects. It speaks to the soul. For women who have endured trauma, this format offers a safe and intimate way to engage with truth. It creates space for healing, restoration, and renewed identity in Christ.

This program fills two critical purposes: First, it is a powerful and compassionate ministry tool which reaches deeply into the hearts and minds of women who relate to the stories. Second, it serves as a key tool for committed on-the-ground workers who minister to victims of trafficking.

TWR Canada is so grateful to partner in funding Hidden Treasures and many other TWR Women of Hope programs that remind women of their eternal value and special purpose in God’s kingdom.
