3.5 Billion Reasons We Can't Stay Silent

3.5 Billion Reasons We Can't Stay Silent
Today, on the International Day for the Unreached, we are reminded of the 3.5 billion people who remain without access to the gospel. Join us as we reflect on the 3.5 billion reasons we can't stay silent.
June 8 is the International Day for the Unreached. But this isn’t just another day on the calendar.
It’s a sobering reminder that nearly 3.5 billion people around the world have little or no access to the gospel of Jesus Christ. That’s 43% of the global population—four out of every ten people—who are unreached.
But these aren’t numbers.
They’re people.
Men, women, and children.
Each one made in God’s image. Each one someone Christ died to save.
At TWR Canada, this day matters deeply.
Because our mission is to reach the world for Christ through media—to proclaim the gospel where many times traditional missionaries can’t go and to disciple believers where no modern church can gather. This isn’t just something we do. It’s who we are.
Why Are So Many Still Unreached?
· Geography: Remote villages, jungle regions, and closed countries remain far from the reach of traditional missions.
· Language & Culture: Many have no Bible, no church, and no Christian teaching in a language they understand.
· Illiteracy: Even when resources exist, many can’t read them.
· Opposition: Governments and authorities often punish seekers, and churches are forced underground.
These barriers are real. But they aren’t final.
That’s Why We Use Media
Media can’t be locked out.
Media can’t be silenced.
Media meets people right where they are—with the gospel in their heart language.
· In Central Asia, Farah gathers with others around a hidden radio. They listen to Bible teaching in secret because owning a Bible could cost them their freedom. “The radio bridges the gap,” she told us. “It brings Scripture into our hearts.”
· In Liberia, a security guard guards his post with a media player in his hand. He can’t read, but now he’s sharing the Word of God aloud, and children gather to listen. “I am rarely alone,” he said.
· In the Persian-speaking world, a young man finds Jesus through a TWR YouTube video. “The article ‘The Way of Salvation’ was instrumental,” he told us. “It showed me I’m loved—so deeply loved—that Jesus took my punishment.”
These are just a few.
There are thousands more.
This Is the Church’s Mission
Jesus didn’t suggest reaching the nations.
He commanded it.
Acts 1:8 tells us to be his witnesses “to the ends of the earth.”
That means we need to act.
We need to send.
We need to speak.
And in places where we can’t go, we must send media.
What Can You Do?
You may not be able to go. But you can send.
You may not speak their language. But you can fund a program that does.
You may not change the whole world. But you can help reach one person with the gospel.
