Even When The Lights Go Out, Hope Remains
In recent months, life in Cuba has become increasingly difficult. Across the island, families and communities have faced extended power outages, fuel shortages, economic hardship, and limited access to many basic necessities. Recent reports describe widespread blackouts and ongoing challenges affecting transportation, healthcare, and everyday life. Yet even when the power fails, one thing continues to shine through the darkness: the hope of the Gospel.
For decades, TWR Canada has partnered with RTM Cuba, and its network of local believers and ministry partners to ensure that people in Cuba can hear the message of Jesus Christ. In places where churches may be isolated and resources limited; radio remains a powerful and trusted tool. A radio broadcast can cross great distances to reach those in remote villages, and city neighbourhoods. Over the air programming provides people with Christian biblical teaching, encouragement, and practical discipleship.
But the ministry doesn't stop at radio. As technology expands, digital tools are being used to connect people with Scripture, discipleship resources, and opportunities to grow in their faith. Whether through online content, mobile-friendly resources, or digital learning platforms, these tools help equip believers to remain rooted in Christ even during seasons of uncertainty.
At the same time, one of the most significant investments being made is in people. Through partnerships that support Christian education and seminary training, local ministry leaders are being equipped to disciple others within their own communities. These men and women understand the culture, speak the language of their neighbours, and are uniquely positioned to lead the Church in Cuba for generations to come.
This model reflects a simple but powerful truth: transformed lives lead to transformed communities. In a place where uncertainty often dominates the headlines, the Church continues to grow, believers continue to serve, and the message of Christ continues to travel across the airwaves and through digital networks.
Moises Perez Padron, Director of RTM Cuba, shares, “When messages arrive, something happens. They are listened to and shared from person to person; hope begins to multiply.”
At TWR Canada, we believe media is more than technology—it helps bring hope and reminds people they are not forgotten. Through radio broadcasts, digital ministry, and the training of local Christian leaders, together we are helping ensure that the light of the Gospel continues to reach every corner of Cuba.
As you pray for Cuba, please pray for the pastors, ministry leaders, and listeners who are faithfully following Christ amid hardship. The challenges facing Cuba today are real, but so is the faithfulness of God.
