Working Heartily for the Lord

Together with our on-the-ground partners, we desire to engage in excellent project management that effectively spreads the hope of Christ and beautifully highlights the lives God is transforming. Read more to see how our recent sponsored training for TWR West and Central Africa has already impacted the participants and their ministries.

How do we effectively plan for and implement projects? How do we manage potential risks and deal with conflict that may arise in our work? How do we best report on and evaluate the success of a project? Ultimately, how do we glorify God throughout the lifecycle of a project? These are just some of the important questions we are concerned with when reaching the world for Christ through our projects.

TWR-WECAF (West and Central Africa) has a variety of projects across many countries. With our support, our on-the-ground partners are responsible for the proposal, implementation, reporting and evaluation of projects. We believe in giving one another the tools to see our ministry thrive, which is why we recently sponsored leadership training for TWR-WECAF. This training focused on proposal writing, project management, evaluation and reporting so that leaders will have the capacity and skills to lead their ministries well.

We praise God that 20 people from eight West and Central African countries were able to participate in the training. Rev. Dr. Abdoulaye Sangho, international director for West and Central Africa, ran the training with guest speakers joining virtually from TWR Canada and our national partners in Germany, the Netherlands and Norway, who addressed vision, strategy and expectations for project reporting.

The positive response from participants shows the desire of our partners to be stewardly in project management and their earnest commitment to Paul’s words in Colossians: “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ” (3:23-34, ESV). We know that God is doing transformative work through our partners on the field, which is why we yearn for excellent project management that effectively spreads the hope of Jesus and beautifully highlights the lives God is changing!

Participants expressed gratitude for being able to do this training together and commented on the quality of the content, which will surely improve their respective ministries. Virgil, ministry leader in one West African country, shared, "On behalf of all the participants, I would like to thank the leadership of WECAF and the sponsors for this seminar that just took place. It is a dream come true for me and I dare say for all of us here. The training was of high quality and taught us more about the expectations of our partners who support our ministry in Africa. I encourage each of us to provide reports that live up to what we do in the field.”

Following this 3-day training, we are conducting six months of observation and follow-up to ensure its meaningful success. As one participant shared, our collective hope is that “all the projects bear much fruit for the advancement of the kingdom of God.” We praise God for seeing some of these best practices already applied in reports we have received since the training.

Please join us in praying for the TWR teams across West and Central Africa as they continue to implement the training they received in their ministries.
