At TWR Canada, we’re motivated by helping everyone everywhere find and follow Jesus in a language they understand. But as we speak different languages, how do we do that?
The answer is through translation! As we acknowledge International Translation Day on September 30, we praise God for the crucial contributions of translators who connect the world to the hope of the gospel so that God’s Word can be understood in every language.
TWR Canada works in more than 50 different languages and we see how impactful it is when someone hears the message of Jesus for the first time in their heart language. Many times, they didn’t realize God spoke their language! While the translator’s role in this is often overlooked, today we celebrate and praise God for their efforts! Here’s a glimpse of the impact of their nuanced work, from the hearts of people all over the world:
“I’m glad to be able to listen to the Christian program in the Roma language. Some things in Scripture have been much clearer to me since I listened to the programs by Pastor Edijan. It is a great thing for our Roma settlement, and I am very happy that through this program we who are not educated can hear and learn the Word of God.” (North Macedonia)
"It is impressive to hear the Word of God in your heart language. It not only personalizes the relationship with God but symbolizes the Christian principle that God loves us all, regardless of our race, cultural background and class. This makes Jesus real in a language that we can understand, feel and share with the community. Thank you for this initiative. God bless you." (Mali)
“When we went to the mountainous region where the Daban Yao live, we had in mind to minister to them in Mandarin. However, they could only speak and understand basic Mandarin, as they communicate with each other using their own local dialect, Hakka. We were excited because we knew that the audio players also had Hakka Bible stories! We were pleased to be able to give them the audio players, while they were extremely pleased to hear the stories in their heart language.” (China)
"I am an elderly person and normally tune into the Kham Magar programs. I can't speak Nepali well because I'm not properly educated, so I'm happy that TWR broadcasts programs in my own heart language. It helps me to come closer to God and to walk in faith. When I was on bed rest, I tuned into the programs. When I heard that God can heal the lame, the blind and all sorts of sickness, I was strengthened. I sincerely prayed to him, and I was completely healed. I thank the Lord very much for this amazing ministry. I share the radio programs with others as well." (Nepal)
Praise God for how he works through the process of translation and in the hearts of translators so that the gospel can be heard and understood all over the world!
