Transformation

Transformation

“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” (Isaiah 43:18-19)

Throughout this chapter in the book of Isaiah, God reminds his people that he alone is God and that they are his people whom he loves and redeems. He declares that he alone is their Saviour, even in the midst of exile and captivity. He reminds them that he is the one who “makes a way in the sea, a path in the mighty waters” (Isaiah 43:16) and makes an end to their enemies.

God had done many things for his people, the likes of which had never been seen before, and he intended to do another new and amazing thing.

Though during this time his people refused to call to him and turn from their sins, still he intended to make a way for them. He says, “I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins” (Isaiah 43:25).

This new thing was Jesus, whom the Father sent to blot out our transgressions! Not only was that a new and outrageous thing, but through the death and resurrection of his Son, God makes us brand new! Christ’s death and resurrection count as our own and we are new creations!

God has done a new and great thing for and within us! Can you see it? Do you believe it? Embrace and delight in the truth that you are brand new!
