Stephen and Teresa Murray currently serve with TWR Canada in the TWR Africa Region. They have been following God’s leading into radio broadcast and digital media missions for the past four years. One verse that inspires them daily is Romans 10:17: “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” It reminds them that even a single video, live broadcast, or radio program can spark faith in someone’s life. Serving with TWR is their response to God’s invitation to participate in His work of building His kingdom, equipping believers, and reaching people who have never heard the Good News.

The Mission Field
Stephen and Teresa serve from Johannesburg, South Africa. By supporting high power radio broadcasts and Christian FM stations they serve many listeners who have limited access to biblical teaching due to cultural, geographic, or social barriers. The Church in Africa has grown tremendously over the past 150 years, and they stand on the shoulders of those who have gone before them; yet trustworthy discipleship resources and leadership support are often scarce. That’s where their work matters most. Through TWR broadcasts, distribution of radios and support to local churches, they serve isolated believers and equip local leaders. They support TWR Canada’s mission to use mass media, including radio and digital platforms, to proclaim the Gospel, help people find and follow Jesus, and instruct believers in biblical living, reaching people in their heart language, especially in hard-to-reach areas.
How They Serve
Their work combines planning, project management, support to front-line technology leaders and assisting new missionaries. Stephen looks at end-to-end service performance of the broadcast chain. He is currently working with other technical leaders on a significant technology upgrade program that will ensure God’s Word is broadcast out until 2055. Teresa works with TWR Women of Hope prayer ministry. She has recently developed and sought approval for resources to address TWR volunteer’s wellness and trauma in several African countries. Their background in telecommunications and social work allows us to serve effectively, but it’s the local partnerships and God’s provision that guide their work.

2. Creativity, wisdom, and discernment in managing the technical and human resources God have entrusted to TWR Africa
3. Health, safety, and resilience as we work and live in Johannesburg
4. Financial provision to sustain and expand ministry initiatives.
5. Strengthened partnerships with TWR national partners operating in Africa
