"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to the LORD, 'My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'"
Psalm 91:1-2 (ESV)
This psalm is a beautiful testimony about security in life. We don’t know the writer of this psalm, but we can see that the psalmist was convinced there was security in trusting in the most high God. How about us today? Do we find our trust in God? Are we confident that he is our refuge and fortress?
One dictionary definition of the word fortress is:
“A person or thing not susceptible to outside influence or disturbance.”
Think about that! When we find our security in God, we are not susceptible to any influence from the world around us. What does that mean for you today?
As I apply this idea in my own life, I know when I am keeping my heart soft to what God considers important and I’m not easily swayed by the influences of the world. When I’m resting in the truth that God’s love is unending, never changing, I’m not tempted to find my security and love in the things of the world that are passing away (Isaiah 40:8).
As we pray this month, may we come before God with open hearts and hands to allow him to guide our prayers. May we lay down our lives again this month in humble service to him as we cry out in prayer for our sisters around the world.
I’m so thankful to call you friends and pray that God will show you his grace and mercy as you journey with us this month in prayer.
In Him our hearts rejoice,
