      TWR On The Battlefield

      From A Listener In Burundi...

Recently one the TWR Canada staff travelled to Africa on a ministry trip. We always look forward to the stories staff bring back from the field offices in each country, because there are so many stories that we don't get to hear because we're not there. This is a touching story about *Major Yves (name changed) who came to the TWR offices to share how he found Christ as he serves with the national military in Burundi. We hope you'll be encouraged by this story as we continue to be.

"I liked to listen to TWR Burundi's Good News For All aired on Saturdays. Radio was the sole means for us to listen to the Word of God while on the battlefield. One particular Saturday, as I listened to the program, I felt as if the preacher was talking about me. He talked about repentance and deliverance from sin. I was convinced that I needed to repent. The following day I gave my life to Christ. That was in 1999.

It was a time when the government army was fighting against the rebel fighters. No pastor could come to us and many church buildings had been destroyed in the fighting. Radio became the only means to listen to the Gospel. I counted myself fortunate to be in possession of a radio set at that time. So many of my friends and I were helped by that radio.
Radio reaches all places. People who usually do not go to church can listen to the Gospel through radio. Radio has a very strong impact. Let me say that radio is one of the God-given tools to spread His Word.

I wish Good News For All could be aired more than once a week. At 3 times a week, people will have more opportunity to listen and be impacted and give their lives to the Lord. I thank all the sponsors for their contributions. So many people, myself included, have been saved thanks to those contributions. I appreciate them and pray that God pays them back for each dime they give. I call God's blessing on them so they give more and sponsor even more programs.

If the programs lack funding, it will be difficult for many people to come to the Lord. Sin would reign and lead people to hell. Let me encourage sponsors to continue funding the programs.
