The above photo from TWR Ukraine’s Instorio social media ministry reminds followers to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart” followed by a Bible verse (2 Thessalonians 3:5).”

“Thank you for putting a lot of effort into your posts. What you want to convey is really visible. This is proof that you understand the technology and your calling.”

This is a comment left by a follower of TWR Ukraine’s Instagram account Instorio (@instorio_com). TWR Ukraine actively began engaging in social media and online ministry in 2017, with the goal of reaching youth and young adults with the gospel. In June 2018, we partnered with TWR Ukraine to upgrade their equipment so that they could grow and expand their social media and online ministry, primarily focusing on Instagram and YouTube. The equipment upgrades have allowed TWR Ukraine to expand their online ministry and grow their reach.

On Instagram, TWR Ukraine is posting creative and engaging images of a Bible verse five days a week to encourage followers and point them to Christ. At the beginning of 2018, Instorio had 6,000 followers. Now, they have over 15,000 followers! Most of their followers are between 18 and 24 years of age. These followers engage with the posts by liking and commenting. TWR Ukraine receives comments such as the following on their Instagram posts:

“It is because of Instorio that I am getting to know God more!”

“Thank you that I can share your pictures and videos with my friends. This is my way of spreading the good news.”

“I spend lots of time on social networks. There are many temptations, but when I read what you post, it makes me think about the really important issues of life. Then, I put down my phone and open my Bible.”

“Thank you for your daily encouragement and exhortation!”

On YouTube, TWR Ukraine currently releases a weekly video blog called Counselling with a Cup of Tea. This five-minute video has the goal of conveying the deep truths of God’s Word in a way which is easily understandable. The set for the videos looks like a living room, to create a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere.

TWR Ukraine is working on a new video series for YouTube in partnership with Kiev Theological Seminary. The series, called Theologian and I (in Ukrainian, this is a play on words), tackles complex theological questions briefly, using simple language. This series will be released later this year.

More than 1,500 people follow TWR Ukraine’s YouTube channel. This number continues to grow weekly, as does the number of followers on Instagram. More and more youth and young adults are engaging with the gospel through social media, and TWR Ukraine is right there with relevant content. This growth and engagement is possible because of the upgraded equipment which allows TWR Ukraine to work effectively.
