      Second Anniversary Reflections

November 3, 2021 By Dan Reese

In this week’s e-update, we’ll hear from TWR Canada President Dan Reese, who celebrates two years as president on November 4, 2021. Please read on to hear his reflections on the past two years.

As I approach my second anniversary as president of TWR Canada, I’ve taken time to reflect on my journey thus far. I recently did a driving tour of Manitoba and Saskatchewan to visit with our donors and to speak at a few churches and small group gatherings. What a joy it was to meet so many people that I had only heard about but had not yet seen in person. I witnessed over and over again the generosity and care that so many have for this ministry. It was also great to meet some new people and share with them the significant work that is carried out by the TWR staff around the world.

These past two years have been anything but normal. The first few months were full of activity and a lot of learning. The old adage, “drinking from a firehose” took on new meaning as I attempted to understand and digest all that is TWR Canada. And I am still learning and putting all of the pieces together. A quick trip in February 2020, prior to the pandemic, visiting six countries in 12 days, barely scratched the surface but gave me a glimpse of the vast scope and reach of the ministry.

When the pandemic spread across the globe and brought us all to a standstill, I expected our resources to dry up. But the Lord showed how faithful he is and how none of this caught him off guard. I have witnessed the sustained generosity of faithful donors and been humbled by so many who have continued to give sacrificially. This has enabled us to continue our efforts to reach into the far corners of the earth with the message of hope in an almighty God.

During my recent tour of the central provinces, I had a lot of time to talk with the Lord, and I felt a renewed sense of my vision for this ministry. Simply put, I believe that everyone should have an opportunity to hear the gospel and be discipled. This is what motivates and drives me – seeing people come to know Jesus as their personal Saviour, and then growing deeply in their faith so they are able to share it with others. As Paul said to the Colossian church, “Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving” (Col. 2:6-7, ESV).

Presenting biblical content to share the truth of the gospel, along with training initiatives to disciple and root people in their faith, is what our mission is all about. Using media and technology is how we carry out our mission. As TWR Canada continues to partner with the Church to evangelize and disciple the nations, it is my prayer that we will rejoice with thanksgiving as we see the lasting fruit that is produced.

Join us in praising God for his faithfulness over the past two years! As we continue to partner with the Church to share the gospel and disciple all nations through media content, training and technology, we are thankful for your partnership.
