The high-powered TWR transmitter station in West Africa reaches 190 million people in the countries of Benin, Togo, Niger, Cote d’Ivoire, Nigeria, Ghana, Burkina Faso and Mali. The transmitter station is located 30km from the nearest town, and staff often have to travel great distances on bad roads to the airport or meet with various officials and government staff. There are also many visitors to the station from TWR, volunteers, and visiting missionaries, and staff often assist with transportation.
The problem staff faced was that all the TWR vehicles at the station were over 20 years old. These older model cars were inefficient and in frequent need of repair forcing staff to use their own personal vehicles.
TWR Canada was able to assist with the purchase a new vehicle for the station. This will provide safe and reliable transportation for staff and visitors, and cost much less in maintenance.
Garth Kennedy, TWR West Africa Interim Station Director, sent the above photo of the new vehicle and the West Africa team, and the following note:
"On behalf of the [West Africa] Transmitter Station team we would like to thank you and the TWR Canada staff for your generous gift which helped us buy a vehicle. Please note the vehicle is ready and waiting to transport you during your next visit to [West Africa]."Pray for those who listen to the broadcasts in West Africa, and remember those who work behind-the-scenes to keep the programs going out.
