This is a story about God's provision and goodness. A story about a man who prayed for the impossible. TWR Canada President, Ray Alary, served with TWR in Africa for thirteen years. Part of his job was to visit listeners and staff across the continent. This is one story Ray says he'll never forget. We hope you'll be encouraged as well.
"Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man, that is impossible. But with God, all things are possible'" Matt 19:26 (NIV).
We had driven into the interior of the country of Angola. The roads were so bad it took us over 6 hours to go 120km. Upon arrival, we needed to visit the town administrator for permission to be in the village. We stood in front a big man behind an even bigger desk. He wore a smirk on his face. I was sure he was not going to allow us to stay.
My friend, Isac greeted the man in the local language. The big man sat up straighter, staring at us. A moment later, tears streamed down his plump cheeks. I had no idea what was going on.
The man came around the desk and lifted Isac in a huge hug. I watched the exchange, not sure what to think. The man put Isac down and explained his excitement.
For 15 years when it was not acceptable for a member of the Communists to listen to TWR, this man had listened. God spoke to his heart through those programs, and as a result he asked Christ to come into his heart. He's been listening to the same pastor over the radio - Isac.
"For 15 years I could tell no one I was a Christian, so I kept my faith to myself." He then said to Isac, "You have been my pastor for the last 15 years. I prayed all these years I would one day be able to meet you.”
God is in the business of doing the impossible and allowed our brother in a remote area in Angola to meet his pastor of 15 years. Thanks to all of you for helping to make the impossible, possible. Save
