"Follow Me" ... TWR Canada Missionaries

April 9, 2019 By the TWR Canada Team
“While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. And he said to them, ‘Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.’ Immediately they left their nets and followed him. And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them. Immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.” Matthew 4:18-22 (ESV)

What does it look like to be a missionary? Many would say that you need to be able to plant a church or preach; others may say you need to be a nurse or teacher. Though we would agree that these are worthy vocations for those in missions, the example of being a disciple in Matthew 4 was that of fishermen; they were just regular people doing the job they knew. They had no formal training in a vocation or through seminary, but they were called by Jesus to follow him, and so they went.

At TWR Canada, we work in countries across the globe to ensure that people hear the hope of Christ in their heart language. What does it take to see this done? In many cases, people! We need people who can write scripts, translate and produce content. We need skilled accountants, IT specialists, office managers and people who can climb towers, fix broken fences and take care of the people they work with. In many places, we are able to use national workers to ensure this work is completed. However, at times nationals don’t have the skills needed in a particular role. That’s where people from across Canada who have heard the call to “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men” are a vital part of our ministry.

Our missionaries are supported by a very important network of prayer and financial partners who share their desire to spread the hope of Christ through media. Missionaries, supporters, on-the-ground partners and those working behind the scenes at TWR have a common goal: together, we can reach the world for Christ. Are you a member of a missionary support team with TWR Canada? If so, thank you for your prayers and financial partnership! Our missionaries can continue this work because of you.

Some of our missionaries are looking for opportunities for new partnerships. Would you prayerfully consider joining their teams?

Current missionaries serving outside Canada include the following:

Greg and Ingrid Clarke are missionaries with TWR in Swaziland. Greg is the office manager and IT administrator, and Ingrid is the finance manager for the Swaziland office. Greg and Ingrid are home on furlough until the end of April and would love to speak with you about joining their team. As well, they will be at our ministry events in Alberta over the next week. If you are in the area, they would love the opportunity to get to know you and share stories with you of the work they are doing.

Henry and Anna Penner are serving with RTM (TWR) Bolivia where they assist the team with the Low German ministry.

Nathan and Megan Dunlop serve as career missionaries in South Africa. Nathan works on studio and production, and Megan volunteers at various events at their church and homeschools their children.

Vincent and Trina Collet are serving at PHARE-FM Aux Portes du Dauphiné, which is part of the TWR network. Vincent is the administrative manager, and Trina cares for their two young children and volunteers as she is able.

Kevin and Lynn Baker currently serve on the island of Bonaire. Kevin assists the rigging team and with general maintenance, and Lynn assists with hospitality and administration.

Jonathan Griffiths serves in Vienna as the content manager for TWR Women of Hope, providing oversight for the development of new content.

It’s exciting to be part of what the Lord is doing. Learn more about the work of our missionaries and how you can get involved in their ministries. We’d love to have you join a missionary team! It’s a wonderful way to be part of what the Lord is doing around the world!
