Oct27WedOctober 27, 2021 The TWR Canada Team
Six years ago, TWR Canada, Galcom International and Aujourd’hui l’Espoir, our partner in Quebec, began discussing a vision for a network of FM radio stations across Quebec. In a province whose population of 8 million is less than 1 per cent evangelical Christian, these radio stations would be an additional resource for helping to spread the gospel to unreached people through the ministry of Aujourd’hui l’Espoir. Now, our first radio station is in its third and final week of live test broadcasts!
After years of planning, fundraising, and waiting for approval from the CRTC, TWR Canada and our partners, Aujourd’hui l’Espoir and Galcom, began construction of the initial station at the beginning of 2021. The radio station, tower and antenna are all located on an old church property in Brownsburg, Quebec. The church itself houses the radio station, serving as the broadcast centre. Because of its age, the church has provided us with several challenges such as water leaks and a lack of insulation! As well, the back of the church was badly burned in a fire a few years ago, so we had to repair that area before radio equipment was installed. The installation of the radio tower and antenna came with its own set of problems, as the foundation for the towers was poured incorrectly. Eventually though, everything came together. On September 3, a team of technicians from AE worked for eleven hours to complete the setup of the radio station, and on October 5, the 40 foot radio tower passed its final inspections!
AE is also partnering with Every Home for Christ to reach homes in Quebec with a written message of the gospel. EHC has created a booklet called “Finding Hope,” which contains the gospel message as well as an insert advertising the new radio station. These booklets will be mailed to around 35,000 homes before Christmas, with many more being distributed by Easter 2022.
Next, the radio station will enter Phase 3, which includes fundraising for new church doors, as they are still using the original, uninsulated doors from 1925. AE is also continuing to find new partners who would like to air their programs on the station. These new partners will join existing partners such as Thru the Bible, Heralds of Hope and Peoples Church on the air and online across Quebec.
Please continue to pray for TWR Canada, Aujourd’hui l’Espoir, Galcom, and all of the individuals who have been working tirelessly on this project, and for those that will be exposed to the gospel through hearing the radio and receiving EHC’s booklet. Furthermore, please pray for the station itself, as it leaves final testing and enters its first broadcasts at the end of this week, and for the planning that is already beginning for the next series of stations!
