One of TWR Canada’s six key emphases is ministry in Canada. As part of that emphasis, we work with partner ministry Aujourd’hui l’Espoir (Today’s Hope) to use media to evangelize and disciple the French-speaking population of Quebec.
After more than 40 years of evangelical presence in Quebec, it is alarming that only approximately 0.6% of the population (approximately 50,000 people) are evangelical Christians. In fact, Quebec is the largest unreached mission field in North America.
In 1996, the vision for Aujourd’hui l’Espoir was birthed with the call of Mr. Marcel Perron to reach all of Quebec with the gospel. Over the years, this ministry has taken on different forms including Breakfasts of Hope, evangelism campaigns, radio, television, translation and publication, worship and gospel presentations, Acts of Hope (theatre) and websites and social media serving Quebec-based churches.
TWR Canada and Aujourd’hui l’Espoir work with many partners to accomplish this work, including The Peoples Church Toronto, Thru the Bible, Heralds of Hope, Hope for the Heart, Galcom International, BLF (French Bibles and Literature) Canada, Every Home for Christ, and many Quebec-based ministries, denominations, and churches.
With a strong engagement and follow-up model, Aujourd’hui l’Espoir has a toll-free response line so that listeners can request information, literature, prayers or requests for a meeting with a staff or local pastor. The goal is to serve and support the local church and collaborate by sending these contacts to them, ensuring local timely and effective listener follow-up.
TWR Canada and Aujourd’hui l’Espoir are working together with Galcom International to launch a 24-hour FM radio station with a network of small repeater stations in towns and cities all over Quebec. The initial licence application has been submitted to the CRTC (Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission), and we are waiting and praying for approval to be able to begin broadcasting from the first station near Lachute, Quebec.
God is at work through media in Quebec, and the gospel is reaching many people for the first time, using radio, television, the internet, and other means. A viewer of our television show (which has over 300,000 viewers weekly!) wrote to one of the pastors on the show:
“Hello, Pastor ... I wanted you to know that I am now born again, baptized and consistently attending an evangelical church, and it is in great part due to the impact of the television program La Parole Vivante.
This show was my first contact with the evangelical world, and I learned much about God by watching it. One day, during the summer of 2015, I decided to go church and I ended up at [a church in my neighbourhood] … It was the best decision I’ve ever made. I have now opened my heart, letting the Holy Spirit console and heal me of all my sorrow. I am now filled with the love of God. God lives in my heart, I have brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ and I can now spread the Good News in my turn. Thank you, you and the team at La Parole Vivante, for the wonderful work you do. It is not a work done in vain and your reward in the Kingdom of God will be great. Again, I thank you, from the bottom of my heart.”
Your prayers for ministry in Canada and specifically for the ministry of Aujourd’hui l’Espoir in Quebec, are appreciated. God keep our land, glorious and free – O Canada!
