One of my favourite things to do at Christmastime is take a few days with my journal and reflect on the goodness of God this past year. I just rest before God and write down all the ways that God revealed himself to me in the past 12 months. I reflect on his precious gifts of comfort, counsel, wisdom and lasting loving friendships.
What would you write in your journal this Christmas as you reflect on the past 12 months? How has God shown himself faithful to you? Have you received some special gifts from God this year? A new relationship? A new child or grandchild? A sense of joy during a time of sorrow or a healing from a sickness?
This December, as we pray for Canada and the United States, let us remember that the most precious gift we can receive is a person – the Lord Jesus Christ!
The real message of Christmas is not the gifts that we receive or give to each other. It is the gift that God has given to each of us in his Son, Jesus.
Let us pray this month that the world would receive a message of hope through our Women of Hope programs and come to know the greatest gift of salvation found in Jesus. Let us pray for those who have received Jesus to know him more intimately in the new year. Let us grieve and pray for God’s comfort for those who are suffering without hope, that they would have a hope and a future with Jesus (Jer. 29:11). Finally, let us pray that God will open the eyes of the hearts of our loved ones, so they will know the greatest gift of all and receive the light of the world for eternity (Eph. 1:18).
"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6 (NIV)In Him our hearts rejoice,
