Read stories from listeners of TWR Women of Hope.

This month as we pray for the women in East Africa, we are confronted with the painful and traumatic circumstances they face. We learn this is one of the poorest regions in the world and that women live in poverty, political unrest and economic instability. They share common challenges such as illiteracy, forced marriages, polygamy and domestic violence and common issues such as teenage pregnancy, female genital mutilation, uterine prolapse, fistulas, malnutrition, maternal death and HIV/AIDS.
These are the women that TWR Women of Hope is ministering to. In the Psalms we read that, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18, ESV), and “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds” (Psalm 147:3, ESV). And in Isaiah 61:1, “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound” (ESV).
The message is clear: Christ has come in great compassion and love to minister healing and hope to those who are bruised and broken. What a wonderful message to proclaim to the women in East Africa!
TWR Women of Hope is helping women discover all that Christ offers them.
As they meet in prayer gatherings, lifting up the burdens of women worldwide and sharing their own burdens, they discover peace.
As they sit quietly and listen to the Word of God proclaimed over the radio or media player, they discover truth.
As they receive practical help through the skills training, they receive independence.
As those in prison are visited and encouraged, they are comforted and accepted.
And as each woman meets Jesus, she comes face to face with the unconditional love of Christ.
STORIES OF HOPE AND HEALING
“Thank you for the Women of Hope radio program…in my family we were fighting every day, a problem which involved me and my husband. Also, our children were so rude to us. Last month when we were sitting at home before we started our arguments as usual, the radio program started and the topic of that day was about family matters and their relationships. Every one of us was listening and shocked because it was like the teachers of that topic where living with us. They talked about all the bad behaviour of our family. Later my husband said, ‘Let us start a new life; let us live with love and forgive each other.’ From that day, we did not have any arguments where we have failed to talk and correct each other in love. We send our greetings to all who enable this program. For sure this program brought friendship back into my family.”
“Dear Women of Hope radio program producer, May the grace of God be with you and your work. I am always listening to your radio program, which is interesting. It is guiding me in my life to care for my personal health as well as my family’s health. I have benefited in so many things from your teachings on the radio. Be encouraged in your service through this helpful ministry.”
J. joined a prayer group and shared her pain. She was married seven years ago and has been without a child during this time. She had a lot of tears when she joined [the prayer group] because her in-laws were always insulting and mistreating her. Now she is very happy to be pregnant. She thanks God so much for the women of her group for lifting her burden up to God. As her prayer has been answered, she just said: “Glory be unto the LORD.”
God remains faithful to his promise to save, heal and bind up! Together, let’s praise him for bringing his hope and healing into the lives of the women in East Africa.
