As we pray for the isolated this month, this may be something you have felt through 2020. In the wake of COVID-19, many people, all around the world, have faced isolation and loneliness. We have had to find new ways to be in community.
Around the world, this has been the reality in a new way. Women are feeling isolated and alone because of COVID-19. TWR Women of Hope teams are working on the ground to encourage and support women in the ways that can despite restrictions and protocols.
In Tanzania, the Women of Hope radio program was an encouragement to a woman who was feeling isolated and alone when she had COVID-19. She shared "I was on the verge of death from COVID-19. Everyone was afraid to visit me for fear of getting the disease. I felt lonely and friendless and completely lost hope. I had no one to talk to about my feelings because everyone was afraid to talk to me. Throughout that period, I had only one friend - the Women of Hope radio program. I listened to a program that highlighted God's invincible power in our lives. I was relieved when I prayed with the program presenter; I immediately began to find hope and happiness again. After two weeks God had mercy on me and healed me. Surely there is no friend like God, and he cannot fail in anything."
Another woman from Tanzania shared her thanks for the visit from the TWR Women of Hope team and the encouragement she received after her husband passed away from COVID-19: "Dear intercessors, God bless you for coming to visit me today after my husband died of COVID-19. It was a difficult time because neighbours and other relatives were not allowed to come to comfort us. So, my children and I were left alone without any help. It was a time of great sorrow and despair. Today, I am empowered by you fellow sisters coming to comfort me with the Word of God and prayers. I feel strong again in my heart. Continue to have the same love for all people."
Praise the Lord for the way that TWR Women of Hope has been able to support and encourage women in their loneliness and isolation through the COVID-19 crisis! As we look around us, especially as winter begins and we are naturally more isolated, due to cold, snowy weather and shorter days, let us see how we can support and encourage the isolated and lonely around us.
