It is with great joy and anticipation that we write these words: Christmas is two months away! While not everyone may be quite that excited about it, the coming of Christmas does get an emotional response! Most of us can easily acknowledge that this season brings a multitude of emotions: excitement, anxiety, hope and fear to name a few. And it’s been that way since the beginning. Consider the shepherds.
The angel proclaimed to them in the fields, “‘Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.’ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!’” (Luke 2:10-14, ESV) The shepherds experienced some fear with this startling revelation, and God graciously encouraged them to “fear not” for he was bringing good news. Just like the shepherds, we can also rest in this good news, even amid the uncertainty of what is happening around us. This scripture tells us that as those with whom God is pleased, we will have peace. And it points to where our focus is to be: on proclaiming God’s glory in Christ.
Over the coming weeks leading up to Christmas, we will share with you the ways in which our ministry is working to point others to Christ. Everything we do falls under one of six ministry areas of focus. These include the broad categories of evangelism (Mark 16:15) and discipleship (Ephesians 4:12-13) as well as specialized content for men, women and children(Joshua 24:15). In addition, we engage in Canada through tools to assist the Canadian church (Acts 1:8) and mobilize missionaries (Romans 10:13-15). We support these initiatives through infrastructure and global partner networks(Nehemiah 2:18). Each week we’ll look further into one of these ministry areas. We’ll explore how media is used to bring the gospel to the homes and hearts of many around the world as well as ways for you to pray and share in the ministry.
Join us as we discover how, together, we can point to Christ in all that we do. Thank you for partnering with us to proclaim God’s glory!
