  • Thank You!

I wanted to say 'thank you' to the friends and donors of TWR Canada. I take every opportunity I can to do just that, but it never feels like I can say it enough to express my gratitude. We are all part of a team and the work being done needs each of us to continue. This ministry wouldn't be possible without your prayer and financial support!

A couple of weeks ago, I took some time to write about why I was excited about 2017 and some of the projects we're working on. This week, I wanted to look back on 2016 and not only thank you, but take a moment to reflect on all that God's done through your support to further His Kingdom.

We've been able to meet all of our financial obligations for 2016. Not every ministry is able to say that in these tough economic times, so on behalf of our entire team of staff and missionaries -- thank you for your trust and continued support!

    Highlights of 2016

    Growth of Discipleship Essentials
This ministry has seen explosive growth through 2016 and we worked on this content in 12 languages -- some are still in progress as we enter 2017 and some won't be complete until 2018.

"The purpose for which Discipleship Essentials was created came to fruition in 2016. We saw partners embrace the content in Egypt demonstrating that discipleship is an urgent need in the Church," says McDaniel Phillips, Project Manager for Discipleship Essentials. "Pastors and church leaders confess they have been focused on evangelism while discipleship has been short-changed. This content has raised awareness for obedience-based discipleship and has struck a chord."

    Seminary on the Air (SOTA)
SOTA is a ministry I remain excited about because they are always innovating and looking to serve and equip their students in the best way possible. That diligence is paying off. We have seen 502 students graduate and 1713 students register for SOTA since 2012 (488 new students in 2016 alone).

    TWR Women of Hope/Project Hannah
Last year brought some leadership changes to this ministry with Dr Peggy Banks taking over from founder Marli Spieker. Peggy has been busy building on Marli's solid foundation for further ministry growth and expansion. "I'm really excited about the expanding opportunities for leadership growth and for strengthening this life-changing ministry to women around the world," says TWR Canada Women's Ministry Coordinator, Colleen Shoemaker.

    Persian Ministry
This has been a tough tough year for our Persian ministry as we saw persecution rise significantly in 2016. These heartbreaking developments remind us of the urgency of sharing the gospel even in these hard-to-reach places and people. Our Persian ministry conferences continue and believers are still being encouraged and equipped for ministry to their family and neighbours. Please pray for this ministry in 2017.

Watch for our ministry newsletter coming out via mail in February that focuses on how media ministry is enhancing work already taking place in many places so that believers are provided with the necessary resources and tools to grow and mature their faith.

As we head into 2017, please continue to lift this ministry in prayer. Thank you!
